Meetings are once a quarter, and are a full day of information, tools, techniques and learning opportunities galore. In between meetings, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) meet on an intermittent basis, usually at members' homes or studios.

Location: Liberty School Multipurpose Room, 170 Liberty School Rd, Petaluma

Cost: Free to PVNB members. Non-members are $20 if registered before April 1, $25 after April 1. Students half price. Registration form is below.

  • Photoshop for Video: A two-hour session taught by one of the instructors from the Bay Area Video Coalition in San Francisco. Bring your laptop (charge the battery first) and learn by doing! IMPORTANT: This class assumes a working knowledge of basic techniques including layers and selection tools - this is NOT a beginning class.

  • Project Workflow: A panel discussion on best ways to manage your shooting and editing projects. Learn valuable tips that will save time, money and frustration.

  • Video Competition: Bring a piece of your own work (5 minutes, max - 3 minutes recommended) and compete for prizes. Competition rules are below.

  • Show and Tell: See some of the coolest, most useful, most inventive gadgets and solutions to everyday shooting and editing challenges.

  • Door prizes: There will be two door prize drawings at the end of the day.
     

  • Bring a brown bag lunch. Water and soft drinks provided.

Competition rules:

  1. Video submissions shall not exceed 3-5 minutes. The actual time allowed will depend on how many entries we will be viewing in the time alloted at the end of the day, and there may not be enough time available to watch 5 minute entries. We recommend sticking to a max of 3 minutes.
  2. There are two categories: Event (wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, anniversary, tribute, etc) and Non-Event (corporate, industrial, commercial, etc)
  3. One entry per attendee or company, either Event or Non-Event (one category only.)
  4. The majority of the production effort to produce an entry must have been by the contestant or contestant's company.
  5. Entry must have been produced and delivered to the client within the last two years.
  6. Entries must be submitted either on DVD or on miniDV tape, queued up to the beginning of the entry.
  7. Entries will be judged on secret ballot by the event attendees. In the event of a tie, a re-vote will be taken of the finalists.
  8. Awards in each Category:  1st place: $75 Gift Certificate,  2nd place: $25 Gift Certificate. Winners will receive an official PVNB certificate, and a link to their video placed on the PVNB website (if desired.)
We will also have two door prizes in the afternoon so be sure to stay for the entire session.  The first drawing will be exclusively for PVNB membersThe non-winning PVNB members and guest attendees are all-in for the second drawing. Must be present to win.
